For the Future...

One of my favorite things to do is think about what my future classroom is going to look like.  I love going on Pinterest and looking up first grade classroom set ups. There are so many different ideas for set ups in the classroom.  I personally believe that a nice and organized set up is important for both the teachers and the students.  If the classroom feels organized, then the students are going to feel more comfortable.  I came across this picture on the left, and I love this classroom!  It is so colorful and organized.  I feel that the classroom will be very productive in this set up.  I'm sure the students love it as well!

The classroom should look nice and colorful for the students.  But more importantly, it should feel personalized for the students.  There work should be hung up (pictures, drawings, writings, etc).  This is the students classroom as well, so they should be represented!  Again, I found some really good stuff on Pinterest for examples.  This picture on the right is for students birthdays.  When children are young, birthdays are a big deal to them! So there birthdays should be displayed and celebrated.
Pinterest is where I get most of my ideas.  It is great site because that is where most teachers post their blog pictures.  Once you click on the picture, it brings you to the blog the teacher posted it on.  But looking at these classroom organizations and ideas makes me so excited for the future.  I hope that I am in a school lucky enough to allow me to decorate it for the students.  I know that visuals are important to students, and I want to make sure the classroom is a fun and inviting environment.  I would highly recommend Pinterest to anyone!  If you want to get your ideas rolling, then that is the perfect way to start.

  1. i LOVE that you use Pinterest because it is the only thing i ever do at night when i can't sleep or any other time where i am just bored and want something to do. I am thrilled that some one else feels the same way, and looks at classrooms, can't tell you how many lesson plans i have saved! haha. Your future classroom will look beautiful!! Would you do anything in particular for the first day of school to make the children love your classroom?

    1. I am seriously addicted to Pinterest! It has so many great ideas that I can't wait to try out in the future. But I am planning on making my classroom colorful and bright. But I found on Pinterest a really cool idea that I want to do with my first day kids. I want to make a giant frame and write on it like, "first day in first grade" and have the kids pose with it. Then, I will take their picture and I will print those out and hang up in the classroom and send them home for the parents. It's such a cute idea, and I feel like you can do that with any elementary grade student.

    1. Yes, you can find so many things on Pinterest that I can't even imagine. Even just fun activities to for seasonal things, for example, Halloween! I feel like hanging those things up during the appropriate time would make the classroom even more fun! The students will be able to get excited about the upcoming holidays.

  3. I love that you bring up pinterest. I have the app solely for the purpose of finding awesome classroom themes and bulletin board ideas for when I'm teaching. The pictures you shared in this post are awesome examples of great decorations for a classroom. One of the things that I think will be most fun once I have my own classroom will be decorating the room and creating a fun and welcoming classroom environment.

  4. It is one of most fun things you will ever do! I used to love going into my classroom every August and getting cleaned up and set up for a new year. Some advice I have for all of you is- choose materials that are simple and easy when you carry out your "Pinterest Perfect" classrooms. Allow yourself to enjoy the decorating and setup, but never forget what will be most important- the student experience.
Another tip? Cut fabric to fit your bulletin boards. You can find better colors/prints and they won't fade like paper. You can wash them at the end of the year and then you will never need to re-cut paper/fabric. You can keep your stash of fabric from year to year!
